I haven't posted in a while as I have been so busy. Started a new job a couple of months ago and its been so hectic. I can't complain thou as I enjoy what I do. Watch this space as I will be back to blogging again.

Dubai Visit

So a few weeks ago I finally took that trip to Dubai that I had been putting off for so long. I just couldn't not go as I wanted to get away from the stress of London and see my friends who I hadn't seen in ages, thank goodness for BBM,twitter and facebook I can keep in touch with them but its not the same as seeing them in person.

All I can say is that I had an AMAZING and WONDERFUL time, I was staying with friends (Shada and Essy heart them loads) which made my trip even more special as we would stay up late and watch movies,chat have a good ol laugh etc and it was the first time in a long while that I was truly relaxed.

I didn't do much shopping despite going to so many shopping malls (strange I KNOW) even my friends were shocked LOL as for me it was about chillaxing in great company. I also finally got to meet Butter she is so sweet and was fab company. I also met a few other people from twitter who are now friends, but most were in Abu Dhabi so couldn't meet them, I plan to on my next trip fingers crossed.

There is so much more I want to blog about my trip but it will make me miss it even more so I won't.

I've been back home now for a few weeks, I can't wait to get away again soon this time I've got New York on my radar.

NB: If you have seen the SATC2 movie and never been to Dubai, Dubai is so NOT over like it says in the movie =p

I'm loving lace this season and also liking the fact that it will still be hot for autumn. On my must have list from Evans new arrivals is this lace coverup, its so pretty and I can use it with so many things in my closet.

I Love My Shoes

I can never buy enough flats so I got excited and carried away as per usual and got these as soon as I saw them all. I love the colours and designs and they will be perfect for running around during buying season and my next trip away.

I love tapestry so had to get these shoes and these will be perfect for autumn as well

Latest Shoe Buys - Foldable Flats

I am a flat shoe addict as that's all I wear. I saw this cute foldable pumps online at Evans.co.uk and I just had to buy them. They will be perfect to carry around in my handbag if I need a change of shoes into something comfy as even flat shoes can be painful after long wear and loads of walking around,also ideal for travelling as it takes up little or no space.

The Wait Is Finally Over - SATC2 Now In Cinemas

After months of count downs and over excitement, SATC2 finally hits the cinemas tonight. The girls were in London last night for the UK premiere, and as expected they stood out with their outfit choices. The highlight for me was SJPs Philip Treacy hat - AMAZING. So despite what the critics are saying I can't wait to see the movie tonight as I will be drooling at the shoes, clothes and OMG Aidan.

Lastest Shoe Buys

I have had a hectic week with work being mega busy as I'm currently working on three seasons at the moment *stress*. My Asst Merchandiser is on her honeymoon so I've been pulling my hair out at work as she is a valid member of my team, (I'm counting down till the day she gets back to work).
Shoe shopping is still one of the best ways for me to distress so I got myself some new shoes. Denim zip detail pumps which are supa cute and multi coloured gladiator sandals which are gorg and so comfy. Now I'm hoping we get proper sun in London so I can show of these babies soon.

I think the cover of the latest issue of Vanity Fair speaks for itself. If footballers played football in just their underwear I would be a very BIG fan. Sadly they don't so I'll just pray for photo shoots like these to keep me smiling.

Blogger Event - Lisa Jewell

I had the pleasure of being invited to a blogger event this week and OMG the chance to meet Lisa Jewell. I was so excited cause I have only recently become a fan after only reading one book "Thirty Nothing" I knew straight away that she was going to be one of my new favorite authors. I loved how the story was told, loved the characters in the book, there were parts of the book that made me laugh, cry and so many other emotions her writing really brought the characters to life and I got so sucked into the book I couldn't stop reading it.I know the book I'm reading is a very good book when eating becomes secondary to me.I did wonder why it has taken me so long to discover Lisa Jewell's books but either way I'm glad I have.

The event/meet gave myself and other bloggers/writers the chance to find out about more about Lisa and how she started writing also what we as bloggers do and how we got started. It was an insightful evening listening to others talk about themselves over wine and nibbles and I felt inspired by what everyone had to say.

One of the main highlights of the evening was Lisa's new book "After the party" which is the follow on from "Ralph's Party" which was written 11 years ago,it tells the story 11 years on in "After the party". I'm praying that my copy of "Ralph's Party" gets delivered from Amazon soon so I can finally read both books.

It was also interesting hearing what the group had to say about how like the characters in the book their lives had changed over the past 10 years. I know that if you had asked me 10 years ago when I was about to turn 21 where I would be at 30? 99% of what I'm doing now would never have crossed my mind. I spent majority of my 20s being scared of getting into my 30s and now I'm at the start of it I think its one of the best things thats ever happened to me and I'm looking fwd to seeing what life has in store for me.

Another highlight was the goodie bag we each got at the end that contained books from authors that I like. It's almost as if they read my mind, but I am starting to run out of storage space for books. I'll probably have to do a Carrie Bradshaw and start using my oven for storage as it doesn't do much else these days.

Wax Wonderful

I remember when I was younger candles to me were just white wax sticks used to light up the house in the evenings, on the dinner table for a romantic setting, or used in church to light up the altar. But these days they are taken more of an artistic form and have become more fashionable or maybe they have always been fashionable I'm just the last one to catch onto the trend. Scented candles are the norm these days with popular brands like Diptyque , Ormonde Jayne , MEMO, Annick Goutal and many more.
I like pretty things and decorative things in my apartment ,so I was excited about coming across Wax Wonderful hand made candles on the internet.

 

My faves are the Rose candles which are a variation of the classic tapered candle. What I like about the features of the candle is the handmade rose flowers at the base of the candle. I like the colour varations and how the candles are mismatched so they give an varied appeal. They also come in a gift box which makes it perfect for gifting, and if like me you cant wrap a gift that's always handy as it can just put it into a pretty bag or stick a bow on the box. 

 

Other types of artistic candles include the banana leaf candles which are hand made to form a real banana leaf impression and the teak leaf candles which are also hand made to form a real teak leaf impression.

Beauty Essentials

I'm always on the look out for new beauty products either from my fave brands or trying out new brands I haven't used before. A few new products that I have tried or in the process of buying due to rave reviews they have had or just because I want to try something new.

Nars Orgasm Illuminator

I am a certified Narsaholic as I love the products esp the skin care product. Unlike MAC Nars don't release loads of new products frequently but their collections consists of some fabulous beauty junkie must haves. I'm going to buy and try the new orgasm illuminator,it comes on clear when used and can be used on the face,shoulders and neck. Also good for over or under your makeup.

Dior Extase Mascara it's a must have. I started using this a few weeks ago and it's one of my fave mascaras. As soon as you apply it you can see the effects on your lashes, it gives length and volume. Its only out in black at the moment, Im hoping they add new colours to the range.

Mac Fix +Rose was a limited edition product that came out a couple of months ago that i love, its a perfect after make up fix, contains rose water. 

Laura Mercier Brow fixing Gel- One of my daily must use, I used to use the Dior brow fixing gel but that got discontinued so I was recommended Laura Mercier, the brow gel is the perfect replacement as it's long lasting and great for fixing my brows just how i want it.

 

NARS Kabuki Artisan Botan Brush, I have regular beauty consultations and this brush was recommended to me and I haven't regretted buying it, it's perfect for loose powder application,buffing and blending, I use mine as a buffer to blend in my foundation and the results are amazing.

This isn't new but I recently started using it and I luv it,Vaseline is a beauty essential and I like this as it has rose and almond oil which are both good.

Good things come in small packages. My latest beauty purchase is This Works Survive Kit. It contains a turbo balm,quick spritz,stay cool eye serum,one for all and breathe in. It's so small it can fit easily into my handbag on the go.

Latest Buy- Tailored Waiter Tuxedo Jacket

   

This tailored waiter style tuxedo jacket is so on trend and looks great with a dress or over a T-shirt. It's the Bank Holiday weekend this weekend, so I'll be wearing this out on Monday as its a work free day, over a floral dress and gladiator sandals.

Latest Makeup Buys- Liberty for MAC

The Liberty for MAC makeup is now available in stores and online. I picked up the Summer Rose powder and Dirty Plum blusher which is really nice and gorg colour. Apart from these two bits of makeup everything else I had or didn't fancy.

GLEE-Power Of Madonna

I am a self confessed GLEEK. I have been a huge fan of Glee since the opening scene of Season 1 Ep1. I could be having the most stressful day but as soon as Glee comes on I'm so happy again. 


I have always been a huge fan of musicals right from big Hollywood musicals in the 50s,Bollywood movies and everything else in between. I love the concept of a film or show where music gets dropped in and Glee does it so well in modern times (I wasn't a huge fan of HighSchoolMusical it was too Disney for me)


In the UK we finally got to see the longly awaited Madonna episode and OMG I LOVED every minute of it, I clapped and sang along my sister thought I had gone crazy LOL, thank goodness I was watching it at home =). I have too many fave bits to mention but my favorite part of the show was the "Like a Virgin" and "Borderline" (one of my fave songs EVER) performance as I was blown away by how it was put together. Sue is my fave character Jane Lynch plays her so well.


As soon as the show was over I logged on to my fave one stop for all things book and music Amazon and ordered the CD. Yes I could have downloaded it but I'm old school and still buy CD's and I still own a disc man as there are albums I own that don't sound right on my Ipod so I listen to on CD instead, (it's a me thing).

I Heart DENIM

I HEART Denim and everyday I thank the person who came up with the idea. My fave thing to wear is denim jeans (I'm so addicted I own about 40 pairs in different shades,styles and textures) as it's so versatile and timeless also the older the better. 

Denim is so on trend this season and I've spotted a few things from dresses,shoes, bags and more that I like. I think often if carried away denim accessories and clothing can look tacky as even designers get it wrong, so its best to pick carefully,also think about what you will wear it with.

However I personally draw the line at double denim wearing denim jeans with a denim jacket or anything else,that's one look that should stay in the 90s locked away with the key thrown far away.
